Community and Economic Development

The Community & Economic Development Section of Tipperary County Council is involved in further developing and sustaining the wellbeing of our communities through economic development, enterprise development, community development, promoting social inclusion principles and further developing the cultural and recreational areas.

We are committed to attracting and supporting dynamic companies and vibrant individuals to develop sustainable jobs and businesses in the county. Through the Business Support Unit and under the direction of the newly established Local Enterprise Office (LEO), Tipperary County Council aims to identify and support inward investment, enable the creation of further employment opportunities, support existing businesses and play its part in developing a stronger entrepreneurial culture.

The ‘Premier County’, as Tipperary is known, consists of rural areas and urban towns. We have a renowned community ethos, which helps people to integrate quickly through a wide network of clubs and associations. There are a variety of arts, sports and cultural events scheduled all year round, in partnership with all of our communities, ensuring a lively and diverse programme of festivals and activities.

Tipperary County council is anxious to promote equality of access to all services amongst its citizens and to this end will work with all of the relevant agencies and support networks to ensure that the more marginalised are enabled to become more involved in each areas of decision making that affects them. Through such support, it is envisaged that individuals and groups will be enabled to improve their own wellbeing and that of their communities of which they form part.

Tipperary County Council, through its Community & Economic Development Section, will continually strive to provide a place where its people can enjoy a great quality of life and visitors can have a positive and memorable experience.
