Dog Control and Sheep Worrying- Tipperary Co. Co. endorses Minister English’s statement released on 9th February, 2017

On foot of 3 reported sheep kills in Tipperary in the last week, Tipperary Co. Co. would like to support the sentiments expressed in the press release from Minister English (see attached- link to press release) and ask that dog owners keep control of their dogs at all times.

Owning a dog comes with the responsibility of knowing where your dog is on a constant basis.

The Dog Wardens assist the Gardai, if requested, when there are sheep kill incidences and the rogue dog or dogs have been apprehended. The role of the Dog Warden is to pick up dogs which are found straying in the public domain, and cannot enter onto private property unless requested to by An Garda Siochana or the landowner. In the case of a sheep worrying incident, An Garda Siochana should always be the first port of call as they will be involved in any related prosecutions and/or compensation claims.
