Notice is hereby given that Tipperary County Council has made an Order to close the following road:
Road to be closed: N24 Pill Road Carrick-on-Suir (at the Railway Bridge).
Period of Closure: From 20.00 hrs on Wednesday 22nd February2017 to 08.00hrs on Monday 27th February 2017 (i.e. 24 hrs per day during school mid-term break)
The above diversion routes using the Regional Road R680 to cater for heavy vehicles will be clearly sign-posted. Other routes using local roads will be available but will not be signposted.
The purpose of this road closure is to facilitate works by Irish Rail to replace the existing railway bridge in Carrick-on-Suir over the N24 with a new bridge at a higher level in order to reduce the number
of bridge strikes that have occurred on a regular basis. Emergency access will be provided at all times within Carrick-on-Suir via a private link road between Cregg Road & Hawthorn Crescent. It is also planned to have a shuttle-bus service operating for pedestrians on this link road for period of the road closure.
