Applying for a Section 57 Declaration for Works to a Protected Structure

Under the Planning and Development Act 2000-2013 works which would normally be considered exempted development under Section 4(i)h of the Act may not be exempt in respect of a Protected Structure or a Proposed Protected Structure.

Record of Protected Structures

A protected structure is a structure that a local authority considers to be of special interest from an architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical point of view.
Each owner and occupier of a protected structure is legally obliged to ensure that the structure is protected/conserved.
