National Play and Recreation Scheme 2019 for Children and young people 2019

National Play and Recreation Scheme 2019 aims to help increase public awareness of the importance of play and recreation for children and young people.
The theme for this year is Back to Basics. This scheme differs from last year, in that Play Day and Recreation Week are combined into one event at local level. You can incorporate Play or Recreation or both in your application. The Play element is to help increase public awareness of the importance of play whilst the Recreation element focuses on older children and young people aged 12 upwards.
Also, your event can be held over a day, a weekend or a week between during the week beginning Monday June 17th – Sunday June 23rd 2019.

Please note:
Activities should not be of a competitive nature
If providing food at your event, remember that healthy foods are the best fuel for an active play and recreation. Healthy Ireland has some very interesting tips on healthy eating for children. Please see more on https://www.gov.ie/en/campaigns/healthy-ireland/

We do not fund the following:
Summer camps.
Events that charge an entrance fee.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 5 pm 16th May 2019.
