Tipperary Celebrates Africa Day on May 25th
Africa Day, designated by the African Union as an annual celebration of the continent’s unity, falls on 25 May each year. Along with the celebrations that take place around the world, local communities across Tipperary are organising events to mark the day.
The events seek to promote a positive image of Africa; celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of Africa and the contribution made to Irish society by African communities and people of African descent.
Four zoom workshops with the families in the Borrisokane Direct Provision centre have taken place- these were organised by North Tipperary Development Company. The Creative workshops were with the materials of Clay, Beads, Arts and Craft
A T shirt (designed by a group member) will be used on the Celebrate Africa Zoom on Tuesday May 25th at 7pm for the various working group members who are presenting about Africa.
The children have been busy making videos and they will be shown on the Africa Day zoom
