The 2020 Town & Village Scheme has been recently announced by the Department of Rural and Community Development, Tipperary County Council, at this early stage, is trying to ascertain the potential level of interest and the type/nature of any proposed projects that may be eligible for the Scheme.
This year the scheme is broken into two strands
The Standard Town and Village Renewal Scheme(the Main Scheme) will focus on interventions that can respond to the new challenges associated with COVID-19 and support the economic and social recovery of our rural towns and villages;
o Maximum funding level 90% of Project cost of €100,000 whichever is the lesser(in certain cases a €200,000 limit will apply).
o Deadline for Submission of an Expression of Interest is 16th June 2020 from the expressions of interest received a shortlisting will take place
o Deadline for a full application to the Department is 28th of August 2020.
o Deadline for completion is 12-18 months and
o There can be 3 drawdown phases for the first phase a minimum of 20% of teh project has to be completed.

Additionally there is an Accelerated Strand to this years scheme..
The introduction of a new accelerated strand of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme for 2020 that focuses on immediate interventions that can be delivered in the short-term to assist towns and villages to adapt to COVID-19.
o Maximum funding level 90% of Project cost of €25,000 whichever is the lesser(in certain cases a €40,000 limit will apply).
o This Scheme will be focused on short term projects that can be delivered by the end of the year.
o There are two rounds under this strand,
o A draft application under this scheme should be submitted by the 16th of June 2020 on the form at the end of the scheme,
o Round 1 closing for applications on the 3rd of July 2020. Round 2 closing on the 14th of August 2020.
o Max of 5 projects under each round
o These projects will be focused on projects a)to increase footfall to towns and villages and b)maintaining Social Distancing
The Council is asking community & business groups across the county to bring forward details of any project which the Council could consider for submission to the Department of Rural and Community Development, under the criteria of the 2020 Scheme.
