International E-Waste Day returns for a second year on Mon 14th October. WEEE Schemes in over 40 countries worldwide will work collectively to raise awareness about the correct disposal of electrical and electronic equipment to enable reuse and recycling. WEEE Ireland is supporting the campaign with a range of activities during the week, including a social media awareness campaign encouraging the public to recycle their e-waste at their nearest Local Authority recycling centre or authorised retailer, using interactive online recycling point map.
Our Small Things Matter campaign also returns from Mon 14th – Thurs 31st October, supported by national and local radio, digital, social media and PR. This public awareness campaign will encourage householders to recycle their waste lighting, waste batteries and small WEEE at their nearest Local Authority recycling centre or authorised retailer too. Our Small Things Matter site provides details on what and where to go to recycle. This campaign also supports the children and families cared for by LauraLynn, Ireland Children’s Hospice.
