27 March | Wreath Laying at MacDonagh family grave in Grawn and unveiling of plaque in Cloughjordan village. National Remembrance: Reading of Proclamation and raising of flag with the Last post and presentation to local children in Burncourt |
March- June | Local Heroes at Denis Burke Park, Clonmel 2canDo Arts in association with Suircan delivering a series of art workshops with National Learning Network on the proclamation and the theme of Local Heroes that will culminate in an event as part of the Suircan community garden project. |
March-July | The Gathering screening in July at Damer House Roscrea Documentary film observing the memories of commemoration in Roscrea. |
April-Dec | Remembering 1916 L.I.T with Tipperary County Museum Joint project with Limerick Institute of Technology and Tipperary County Museum, resulting in a display of animation and video work by students on life in 1916 and a colourisation project of black and white archive images of the time in the County Museum. |
3 April | Easter Rising Commemoration hosted by Durlas Éile Eliogarty Committee Mass at Cathedral of the Assumption Thurles at 12 noon followed by a parade of invited guests to St Marys Memorial Garden of Remembrance where a plaque will be unveiled to all who died in 1916. |
22-24 April | 1916 Event at Dalton House Tipperary Exhibition and local stories with a local seanachai and theatre group. |
28 April – | Cloughjordan Honours Thomas MacDonagh Weekend. |
2 May | Weekend event including Summer School and unveiling of Thomas MacDonagh statue. |
30 April | 1916 Remembered in Songs and Stories Burncourt Drama Group Presenting the literature of the Rising in tandem with the songs of the time. |

15 May | To be 16 in 1916 presented by Cashel Arts Festival Ltd A programme to thematically imagine/reimagine , remember and experience what it was like to be 16 in 1916 through active participation in the music, drama, poetry and life stories of the era both nationally and locally. Event includes concert and talk. |
20-22 May | #PROCLAIMAGAIN 2016 presented by Nenagh Rising at Nenagh Arts Centre An innovative event which will bring together speakers from international, national and local backgrounds to engage in ‘conversational dialogue’ with attending audiences who wish to discuss, debate and examine the content of the Proclamation. |
15-18 Sept | The Freeborn Exchange Celebrating Ireland 2016. A unique project with artist Gavin Freeborn engages with the public to provide a snapshot of the feelings of the public in relation to 1916. |
1 October | Our Rebellion, The Source Arts Centre Thurles Using the Fishamble Theatre Mentoring project currently in Source Arts Centre in Thurles and involves 12 local and regional writers working on their own projects. Source will commission one piece to be performed in a developed form on the theme of ‘rebellion’. |
3 November | The Murder Machine, The Source Arts Centre Thurles The Murder Machine is a document outlining Patrick Pearses thinking about the control brought to bear on the youth of Ireland under British rule. It utilises evocative description and poetic metaphors to describe a nation under the yoke of another. The project will utilise elements of this text to present a spoken word and musical piece. |
