Housing Allocation Scheme

The purpose of the Housing Allocation Scheme is to provide a means of determining the order of priority to be accorded in the allocation of dwellings to:

Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) & Social Accommodation Initiative (SAI)

The purpose of the scheme is to transfer responsibility for housing SWA Rent supplement recipients who are deemed to have a long term housing need to local authorities. Administered by local authorities, the scheme is intended to provided and additional source of good quality rented accommodation for eligible persons.

Local Authority Housing

Local authorities are the main providers of housing for people who have been deemed to have a Housing Need.

To be considered for local authority housing in Tipperary, you should apply to this Authority using the application form below. Applicants will be assessed in accordance with Housing Assessment Regulations 2011, which came into effect from 1st April 2011.

Voluntary Housing

Voluntary Housing Organisations are known as Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs). These organisations have been approved by the Department of Housing Planning and Local Government under the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 for the purpose of accessing support from local authorities for housing provision.

Part V Information for Developers

Under Part V of the Act it is a requirement of planning permission for new housing developments that a certain portion of the land - up to 20% - be reserved to meet the need for social and affordable housing.
