Update regarding Liberty Square Enhancement Project.
As of today, 21st July, the following works have been progressed –
Phase 2 (Castle to Car Park entrance) is now largely completed.
Sections of the footpaths are open to pedestrians and parking and loading bays available for use.
The pedestrian crossing on the southern side of the square at the Bank of Ireland has also been completed.
Street furniture has been installed and is being used in this glorious weather.
Phase 3 (Car Park Entrance to Slievenamon Road) is also largely complete.
The car park entrance is fully paved and opened.
The installation of all underground utilities, kerbs, paving, tree pits and street furniture is progressing well.
Phase 4 (Suirside Place to Ulster Bank Car Park entrance)
With the start of school holidays the contractor did not delay and commenced advanced works at this location.
The installation of all underground utilities and preparation of surfaces for paving will commence in early August, moving towards the Ulster Bank Car Park.
The contractor has now begun a well deserved two weeks builders holidays, which started on Friday 16th of July. They will return to site on Tuesday 3rd of August.
Tipperary County Council would also like to make the public aware of a new temporary traffic layout on the square. Details of the new layout are attached
