The Heart Of Our Town- Thurles

The Heart Of Our Town focuses on promoting local businesses in Thurles Municipal District.
As the campaign in Thurles comes to a close, we have highlighted the many offerings in the town during these challenging times.

One thing that we have learned over the last couple of months is that community spirit and local traders know how to rise above any predicament for the benefit of each others well being. And now as we enter another period of uncertainty, we think it is more important than ever to think local when we are shopping. Keeping the heart of a town pumping is what Thurles does best!

As well as the obvious reasons to promote shopping locally in our towns and supporting local, this campaign very much “put faces behind the businesses” and fostered a sense of pride in our Town
which we hope will be reflected in our buying choices.

The social media campaign was launched on @thurles.ie Instagram and Facebook, and it has been a huge success. It was heartwarming to see the business owners being complemented on the level of service that they provide to their customers.

In the interest of educating our young people about the values of shopping locally, a presentation was created for TY students in the secondary schools in Thurles where they were introduced to some of the
business people of Thurles. A huge thanks goes to the panel of local traders who volunteered their time to present this to the students. We have received great feedback from the students, They were amazed
to hear the stories of the history of Thurles traders, how buildings have been passed on from generation to generation, and also how they have changed hands.

While retail may be closed for now, many of our Thurles traders have an online offering, or are able to operate a take-out service so we ask you to think of these businesses when shopping in the coming weeks.

The Heart Of Our Town is looking for traders of Roscrea and Templemore to get involved!

As we enter Level 5 restrictions, we understand that businesses in Roscrea and Templemore, like so many others, will have to close their doors for the next few weeks. This campaign is all about championing and promoting you as a local business. We would like to use this time to get The Heart of Our Town campaign in place in Roscrea and Templemore to promote the reopening of your business in December. We will supply you with custom social media posts and in-store printed graphics, to show your participation in the campaign in Roscrea and Templemore. Your business will be featured in social media posts, local press, and a schools presentation.

If you own a business in Roscrea or Templemore and would like to get involved please contact ciara@designedly.ie for more information.
