With International Women’s Day being celebrated on sunday, we’re highlighting an interesting extract from the Minutes of Tipperary South Riding County Council of 14th June 1919, in which the Councillors take the decision to propose to the Local Government Board that this Board ‘should reconsider the question whether women should be disqualified for such an office as that of Rate Collector and accordingly, withdraw the objection they have made to the appointment of Mrs. Cullinan’.
