The latter part of the Decade of Centenaries from 2018 to 2023 will reflect on and recall significant historical events that took place between 1918 and 1923 that lead to the foundation of the state. These years signify a turbulent period in our history, navigating the path from the 1916 Rising to the admission of the Irish Free State into the League of Nations in 1921 and our challenge is to commemorate this sometimes sensitive period in our history in an inclusive and respectful way.
This scheme will focus on projects commemorating events with a centenary in 2019 which can include one of the following themes
• End and aftermath of World War 1 1918/1919
• The Spanish Influenza Pandemic 1918/1919
• The 1918 General Election
• The Soloheadbeg Ambush 21 January 1919
• The convening of the First Dail 1919
• The War of Independence.
The closing date for this scheme is 4pm on Wednesday 12 December, applications received after this date can not be considered.
