Electoral Register

Register of Electors

Notice is hereby given that the Register of Electors for 2019/2020 was published on the 01st February, 2019 and will come into force on the 15th February, 2019. The Register of Electors is available for inspection at Council Offices, Garda Stations, Post Offices and Libraries.

Postal & Special Voter Applications

Closing date for receipt of Postal & Special Voters Applications for the 2019/2020 Register of Electors is the 25th November 2018. Once approved, a Postal vote is applicable for the duration of the Register i.e. 12 months from the 15th February.

Categories of Elector

The Register comprises four categories of electors. A person's citizenship determines their category and the type of elections at which they may vote as in the table below:

The statutory provisions relating to the qualifications for registration as electors are contained in the Electoral Act 1992 and are summarised as follow:

Two Versions of the Register

Since 2004, registration authorities are required to publish two versions of the register the full register and the edited register.

Register of Electors

The full register lists everyone who is entitled to vote and can only be used for an electoral or other statutory purpose.

Local & European Elections

When the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government announces that the Government has agreed European Parliament or Local Elections will be held to be entitled to vote (1) your name must be included on the Register of Electors which was published on 1st February or (2) you must submit an application for entry on the supplement to the register.

Presidential Election/Referendum

The closing date to the supplement for the register of electors was Tuesday 9/10/2018 (Form RFA2). The closing date for postal Voters and Special Voters was 1/10/2018.

Notice of Poll- Presidential Election 2018

The Poll at the election will be taken on Friday 26 October 2018, between the hours of 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m.
The names, addresses and other particulars of the candidates as described in their respective nomination papers are as follows:
