National Fire Safety Week Initiative

Local authorities, together with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, run themed events during National Fire Safety Week. The events aim to raise awareness about fire safety and prevention in the home and community.

Fire Safety Week

National Fire Safety Week, , is jointly run every October with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service to enhance fire safety, particularly in the home. This year the main theme is

' A Working Smoke Alarm Saves Lives'

As with previous years, we will be trying to target as broad a spectrum of the population as possible. This year we will not only be encouraging people to have smoke alarms and test them, we will also be encouraging the wider community to look out for each other – especially those most vulnerable and at risk. We can all be ‘Safer Together’.

This year Fire Stations across the county joined their communities ( in a Covid friendly way !) to spread our Fire safety message. Participating in Fire Safety Demo's, safety stands at supermarkets, fire safety talks and much much more.

We are very hopeful that next year we will be in a position to once again hold open days and return to your schools for fire safety talks and again welcome you all back into our fire stations, until then join us on Twitter and Facebook to view some of our video content and see what we are getting up to !!!!
