Tipperary Climate Action Team Meeting

Positive climate action demands a whole-of-council approach, and Tipperary County Council has already gone a long way in meeting its Green-House-Gas (GHG) emission reductions targets. In the Tipperary County Council LACAP the Council will set out how it will further reduce its own operational GHG emissions, and also how it will 'Influence, Co-ordinate, Facilitate and Advocate' for climate action in other sectors and communities to help them in the achievement of their own GHG reductions and climate action targets.

A Climate Action Steering Group made up of the Council's Directors of Services and Head of Finance and chaired by the Director of Environment and Climate Change is tasked with leading the challenge on Climate Action in the Council.

Climate action through the services and functions of the Council will be delivered out by a multi-disciplinary Climate Action Team comprised of senior staff members.

These teams will be supported by the specialist 'Climate Action Office, put in place to coordinate the Local Authorities response to to climate change, and is responsible for supporting development, implementation and monitoring of LACAP action delivery.

The climate action office comprises:

  • The Climate Action Co-ordinator
  • The Climate Action Officer
  • The Community Climate Action Fund Officer
