Local authorities prepare development plans for land use and development management. You can have an input into the plans through consultation.

Tipperary County Development Plan 2022- 2028

A new Tipperary County Development Plan 2022 – 2028 for the entire county of Tipperary was made on the 11th July 2022 by the Elected Members of Tipperary County Council. The Plan is a framework for how we will deliver for all our communities, through protecting our environment, reducing our energy demands, maintaining the viability of our towns, villages and rural communities and supporting job creation. Your involvement throughout the process of plan preparation means that the new Tipperary County Development Plan 2022 - 2028 reflects your ideas, aspirations and concerns for Tipperary within the structure of national and regional policies and guidelines.

An Interim Plan comprising: The Draft Plan, the amendments to the Draft Plan and the modifications to the Draft Plan are available to view on this webpage under Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 below.

The Planning Authority is now in the process of preparing the County Development Plan, Environmental Report, Strategic Environmental Assessment Statement and Strategic Flood Risk Assessment for publication on this webpage on the 22nd August 2022 being the date that the Plan will become effective.

Tipperary County Council was established on the 1st June, 2014, following a decision in 2011 by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government (DECLG) to amalgamate North and South Tipperary County Councils.

Town Development Plans

Town Development Plans were adopted by the former Town Councils in Tipperary. These plans provide a land use framework at a town level. The plans contain policies and objectives for the determining the appropriate location and form of different types of development in these urban areas.
